So as you know we've been living with 2 other sisters (Sister Allen and Sister Bennion) and Sister Allen doesn't have her ears pierced yet. The first day of quarantine we were thinking of some crazy things we could do in our apartment to make some crazy stories. Well we decided we should pierce Sister Allen's ears cause that's literally the most exciting thing we could do in our apartment haha. So we would just chant Allen pierce your ears like...nine times a day haha! But she still didn't pierce them so that's sad.
Anyways...WE'RE OUT OF QUARANTINE
First Day of Freedom
We literally had the day PACKED with outdoor service projects and things keeping us away from our apartments haha. So we started the day with pickleball (obviously) and then had an out-of-quarantine celebratory breakfast until we did a car wash. You should have seen us dancing on the side of the road with signs, it was pretty great. BUT LISTEN TO THIS!! We had a LOT of people come to our car wash and literally every single one tried to "tip" us or buy us lunch or something. Obviously we didn't take the money, but instead we gave them a picture of Christ with our number on the back. A lot of the people were so interested in what we were doing AND ONE OF THEM SHOWED UP TO CHURCH YESTERDAY AND TWO OTHERS ARE COMING NEXT WEEK!! y'all. Letting Heavenly Father lead your conversations is not just for missionaries. Everyone should be practicing and perfecting this every chance they get. As President Nelson said, "Let God prevail." Let Him prevail in your actions. In your relationships. In your education. In your work. Let Him guide you in everything you do.
Last Week of Quarantine Fun
So my mom and Nicole Banks (Grayson's mom) put together this adorable package with games and stuff to keep us entertained. They also gave us plates and cups because the last sisters that lived here literally took like everything haha not cool. But Sister Lotu and I worked really hard and finished the puzzle in 4 days 👏 we also played some mean rumikub and seek this week. Sister Allen has so much knowledge in her head it was like automatic surrender playing with her haha. But we also made a different dessert every night...not doing that again. We put sticky notes on peoples cars in the morning with little uplifting notes (we washed our hands first I promise).
RIP Sister Allen and Sister Bennion (Allion)
We lost our roomies /: I loved spending so much time with them the last 2 weeks. Sister Allen had the most random facts, I feel like I learned so much more in those 2 weeks than 3 years in high school haha. Just kidding I didn't learn THAT much but I did learn some cool stuff. And Sister Bennion cooked so well I'm so sad she's leavinggggg. But it's good, Sister Lotu and I make a mean bowl of Ramen. But they are officially gone and are working hard in their new area. I'm so excited for the both of them!!
Enter Sister Brady
We're in a trio!! Sister Brady is from Idaho and has been here for about 15 months. She is SO awesome! We're still getting used to being in a trio cause it's only been a day haha. But I love it!! Our companionship studies are such a blast and we all have a lot in common. I'm still the only Utes fan here though so that's awkward. Don't worry dad, I'll convert them.
Buc-ees
So Buc-ees is this GIGANTIC gas station in Texas and it's in our area so we went today to get some merch. Well, they also have some flipping good brisket there too so we got some brisket sandwiches and this couple from Riverdale Utah bought ALL of our food and even some hats for us! There were 14 missionaries there and they paid for everything. We tried our hardest to talk them out of it but they insisted. For all of us, it was more than $200 😳 we were so so so grateful though. People are so amazing!!!
Teaching
So we've got the Kallisa family that is so ready to be baptized but they all think they aren't sure. Also they suck at texting so we almost never get in contact with them. We also have Sergio (the one who didn't tell his wife he was taking lessons) who is SO interested in the church, we're hoping we can get him to church this week. And then there's Nelly!! She is so adorable and so interested in what we're teaching, but she's never home!! We're going to visit her at work next week and hopefully catch her off guard haha. But the work is going great!! We're super gung-ho about getting some new people this week so it will be good!!
Weekly Spiritual Dose
Okay so in my personal prayers I tried something new this week. Instead of just saying thank you and asking for something, I start off my prayers telling Heavenly Father about my day. I tell him my frustrations and things I think I need to work on the next day. I also tell Him what I felt I did good that day, things I thought were funny, stuff that made me happy, etc. It has changed the way I feel about praying immensely. I know He already knows all of the stuff I'm telling Him, but when I tell him about my day, I feel more love from Him than ever before. He wants to hear what I have to say no matter what it is! He wants to hear what YOU have to say. Any type of prayer you pray, I encourage you to include this in it. If you've never prayed before or it's been a long time, I encourage you to try. Talk to God respectively, but anyway that's comfortable for you and He will listen. Not only will He listen, but He will answer you.
I love you all so much!! I hope you have the greatest week ever and I'll talk to you next week!
Tchuss,
Sister Rogers
