Travel to Germany

 Dear Missionary Parents,

I know that your missionaries have been in regular contact with you, but Sister Ostler and I wanted to reach out to you and let you know how impressed we are with the faith, courage, and goodness of your missionary sons and daughters. You would be SO proud of them!

As you know, they have been in quarantine for the past 3.5 weeks, and although they are in nice apartments on temple grounds, very safe and with healthy food to eat, the situation has really exercised their patience.

The laws and regulations of the countries of Europe have been constantly changing as Covid cases have risen dramatically and as the hospital systems in some of the countries have come under pressure. This has made travel between England and Germany or Slovakia much more difficult. In spite of this, with great faith and courage, several missionaries entered Germany this week. They are questioned at border control at the airport, sometimes for 15 minutes and sometimes for a couple of hours, but so far all have been permitted to enter. They are entering as “essential worker” church volunteers. The big question at the border is whether or not missionaries are “essential”  and whether it is safe to admit anyone who has been in England (where the virus has spiked). The border police are simply trying to do their jobs and our sweet missionaries are doing their best to exercise faith and make their way in.

The missionaries are never in any danger. Everyone is quite respectful even though they can be very thorough.

Mission presidents or other church representatives are always waiting patiently on the other side of the border control area for the missionaries to come through. All of the missionaries have electronic devices so that they can be in contact throughout this process.

As the rest of the missionaries leave England and enter Germany over the next few days, if some of them are rejected, they would simply fly back to England where they would work with missionaries in the British missions until the next opportunity comes to go back.

We ask you, whether your missionary has already entered Germany or is waiting to go, to plead with the Lord to be with these missionaries during this time. We have seen many miracles and we believe in more miracles to come. The Lord has a great work for them to do. They are young, but they have great spiritual power.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Sincerely,

President Creg D. Ostler

 Hey y'all!

Germany

TWO elders from the MTC made it to Germany!! There was a lot of confusion at the borders but they made it in (legally lol) and then literally right after that the German government announced they would be extending the restrictions on the borders. Sooo that means the rest of us won't be going there at least for another 2 weeks but it was still good news that someone made it!!

What Now?

The talk is that we'll be reassigned to missions in England but we actually have no clue haha. Things are finally moving though and it looks like we'll be getting out of the MTC eventually if its not to Germany.

The Toilet.../:

We have 2 toilets in our apartment (thankfully) but one of them you have to like...pump the handle to get it to flush. Ooor you have to stand on the tub and put like all of your weight on the handle. Anywho Sister Cannon always really struggled with it and then it stopped working haha. So we tried to fix it but England toilets are different than America's (crazy how that works) and we ended up having a dude come fix it. It flushes now but you still have to kinda jump and push down as hard as you possibly can haha...I'll update y'all if the handle breaks off.

Bomb Shelter? Nah, Covid Shelter

We're #boredoutofourminds and built a fort!! That's what the weird pictures with the cheetos are.

Frank

Frank ran from us ): but then we saw him again and he gave us lots of loves. But then he poked Sister Winder with his claw and it freaked her out so he ran lol

THOMAS IS GETTING BAPTIZED!!!

lol jk Thomas is actually my brother Tanner acting as a German guy so we can practice teaching the lessons in German. Haha gotcha.

Real Lessons

We've been able to sit in on some lessons with our virtual companions in Heidelberg!! It kinda makes us super duper stressed but it's soooo nice to actually use the language we've been studying for 5 months haha. We had a pretty BOMB lesson with this dude Ali who we taught that Jesus Christ is not on a prophet but also the Son of God. It was awesome!! We didn't know what was going on most of the time but the gift of tongues is REAL and Sister Cannon bore her testimony of Jesus Christ at the exact moment he needed it. It was so amazing.

Escaping Prison

England is now on SUPER strict lock down because they've been having 50,000+ new cases each day...it's bad. BUT before the new rules (we can only leave our room once a day now) we would go on walks on the temple grounds and down to the canal in our jogging route. It snowed the other day and it was SO pretty so that's why there's a million pictures of it.

Weekly Spiritual Dose

My cute friend Nicole sent me the sweetest message on the day we found out we weren't going to Germany anytime soon. It completely lifted my spirits and changed my whole week. Do you guys ever have those tiny thoughts to text someone or even just wave at someone? I know I do and unfortunately more often than not I push them aside. This week I'm going to TAKE ALL THE PROMPTINGS!! And my challenge is for y'all to take them as well. Let me know your experiences!

That's it for this week! Sorry there's nothing super exciting lol. Love you all!!
