Helloooooooo everybody!!! Buckle in cause this week was PACKED. (Like any other week isn't lol) I've got some awesome experiences for y'all!
New Car!
2 weeks ago we spent an entire day helping the mission office drive down to Dallas and pick up some new cars. Since there are so many reassigned missionaries, we had a TON of rental cars in the mission. So we spent a lot of time driving to pick up those cars, then last Tuesday we got one!! They're all 2020 Chevy equinoxes and they are sooooo nice. We named ours choncho el chorizo and he's so great. Except he tried to escape from us the other day and got towed 😒
We Done Been Towed
Alright. We went to one of the Spanish sister's apartments for a "girls night" since it was the last weekend of the transfer and some of the sisters were having a lot of homesickness. It was so fun!! We painted our nails and did face masks and talked a ton about why we came out. It was really neat to get to know their testimonies a little better. Anyways, we wrap up the party and head out to go home AND OUR CAR WAS GONE. There were no signs about reserved parking or anything so that's trash but whateverrrr we finally found our car yesterday after calling all over. Elder Neil is a senior elder and he was SO nice helping us out with everything. Soooo our sabbath day miracle was paying a small fortune for our car haha...good memories I guess 😉
TEACHING!!!!
Frank: So we think he has ghosted us but that's fine, we'll just keep messaging him until he decides he wants to meet with us again...so we can drop him lol. I really really REALLY wish he would just keep his commitments!! He has so much love for Heavenly Father and he loves everything we teach him buuuuuuut he doesn't do anything about it and its just like !!!!?!? But it's fine, it's just not his time to accept the gospel. Good thing the Lord knows everything so we don't have to!!
Nelly: She is so cute!!! Ah I love talking to her, she just has so much light in her personality!! We're still having a hard time getting a hold of her so that sucks but hopefully this week we will at least get a lesson with her! We keep showing up at where she works...but she's never there so maybe she lied about getting a job haha. Just kidding, we've had some good conversations with her coworkers and they all know who we're talking about!
Sergio: He is also very very busy, but we have a lesson with him tonight so hopefully it doesn't fall through! We also almost got him to work...but he's low-key very afraid of his wife haha so we're working on that.
Bubba: Apparently his name is actually Salvador so that's cool, we've just been calling him Bubba and he never corrected us haha. Anyways, he still wants a kid really bad...so we taught him a little bit about our purpose here on earth and the things we should do now and other things we should wait for. But he's great, he has a lot of interest in the spirit, he's just really uncomfortable talking about it so we're working on that.
Hoih Pi: THIS GUY IS AWESOME!! He messaged Sister Brady on Facebook and asked us to pray for the youth in his community. After a little conversation he told us that he's a Christian minister in a really small, really poor part of India where Buddhism is very prominent. Since the area is really poor, the kids don't have much of a chance for education. He told us the Buddhist community there offers education if they are actively practicing Buddhism. Which is actually pretty cool, except the kids are punished in school if they don't practice Buddhism to their expectations. So a lot of kids are either being punished in school or just not going to school because they aren't Buddhist. Anyways, he's on a mission to start a Christian based school that doesn't require religious practice as part of the education. We had a lesson with him a couple days ago and he told us all about his goals with this, and we mentioned something about our church's youth programs and self-reliance and all that good stuff. He kept asking questions and pretty soon we were in the first lesson teaching him about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. He had some awesome questions about everything and was super into the lesson. When we finished the lesson he said "tell me more about Joseph Smith!" Soooo we did! We ended on the Book of Mormon and he said straight up "where can I get this book!?" And we all looked at each other all shocked haha. But it was awesome, we got in contact with a missionary close to him so hopefully she can get a book to him. He is GOLDEN. The biggest downside is that the internet is really expensive so we can't call very often or very long. But we're working on another lesson with him!
Transfers ):
Worst. Day. Ever. We found out last night that Sister Lotu leaves on Wednesday to another area! She's my mission mom and I'm not ready to let her goooooo ): but I know she's going to be great in her new area and we will hopefully see each other before she goes home or I go to Germany haha. She's moving to a Tongan ward though!! Her parents moved here from Tonga so she's really excited to spend some time with people who are part of her culture!
Weekly Spiritual Dose
We had a recent convert come and speak to our zone about her conversion story and what was different about our faith. One thing she said over and over that really stood out to me was to remember her. She said "when you wonder why you're here, when you feel discouraged, when you think the work isn't progressing, remember me. You're here for me." I loved that. When she said that to me I felt as if that's what Christ says to each of us. Remember Him. He came and suffered for US, we can do some of this work for HIM.
I'm sorry this was so long!!! We just had a lot happen haha! I love you all so much!!
